“But when you pray..."
Matthew 6:5
Contained within the simplicity of the way Jesus teaches us to pray in Mathew 6 is an invitation to relationship with him.
He asks for me to be genuine when I pray. He asks me to get alone and just be present with him.
He says he wants to hear from me, not hear my pre-programmed, repetitive religious prayer language.
He says he already knows what I need. But he says he will reward me when I ask. He is all-knowing, but he wants to hear from me.
Then he tells me how to pray, laying it out simply.
There is ease and honesty in the way God asks me to talk to him.
It's amazing to realize that in this unadorned prayer is an invitation to the boundless joy of knowing God.
Will you respond to that invitation?
