When we hear the word “creative” in our country today, we often think of award winning artists, great directors of feature films, writers, photographers...etc. Unfortunately, we have mistaken the word "creative" for the purpose of an artist. An artist is one who professes and practices an imaginative art or one skilled in the fine arts. 

The true definition of a creative is having or showing the ability to make new things - to think of new ideas - being imaginative, innovative or original. Creativity is our birthright. We think, imagine and innovate in our day-to-day lives. Creativity is not only given to artists,  it is a part of who we are as humans. The cultural idea that an accountant is not creative is devaluing his or her identity. We have the ability to be creative in the way we connect with those around us each day;  with our kids, our co-workers and our classmates. Your last name might not be Warhol, but you do have the choice to engage the cashier creatively in conversation about their day.  

This week,  we encourage you to press in to your creativity with the Holy Spirit. Ask who, where and how you can engage your creativity. Do not leave creativity to the artists. They are not the only ones that have it.
