A Moment that really changed me and challenged me about missions happened once when I stumbled in to the New Heights Global Outfitters Center. That day there happened to be a fundraiser for Jack and Lael Crabtree, who are New Heights global workers in Papua New Guinea. I was talking to Jack, and asked, 'How long are you going to be in Papua New Guinea? A couple of years?' He looked at me and said 'No...We are looking to go for the rest of our lives.' I said 'So maybe in 10 years, you are probably going to come back to America, right?' He responded 'You know, we are ready to be there forever.'
That changed my paradigm. I realized that the sacrifice is real, and that counting the cost is real. It brought a lot of tension to me. I had to ask myself if I was ready to count the cost.
Don't be afraid to look foolish for Jesus, because at the end of the day that is what matters. His kingdom is coming. Am I going to miss it or am I going to play a role in it?"
