“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; ”
EPHESIANS 4:2-4 NIV
Many times we join a community or a church and the people in it do not live up to our expectations. We find that there are people there that are not my kind of cool. They are too old with traditional ideas, or too young and delusional. I cannot relate to them. They don't have the same interests as I do. They are annoying. They teach and discuss things I don't care about. They are distracting, they complain a lot. They have health issues. The group is clickish. Their kids are loud or poorly disciplined. The group is not vulnerable enough, no one talks. The group is too loud, people hog the conversation. They are not like my old group.
If I pray about this and I find that God wants me here anyway, will I obey? Will I rely on his unifying love? Will I be available to people I dislike? Will I pour myself out for imperfect people?
