LOVE GOD PASSIONATELY

//

LOVE PEOPLE TANGIBLY

This is our mission, our calling, our purpose. This is why we were created. This dual mission drives everything we do, and it's how we try to live out the commands of Jesus.

In essential beliefs

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." (Ephesians 4:2-6 NIV)

We affirm the high value of this scripture and seek to practice it at New Heights Church by pursuing unity within the bounds of orthodox Christianity. We come from many different faith traditions, but we share the same Jesus.

Unity
Liberty

In non-essential beliefs

"Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.... Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.... Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.... So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.... So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God." (Romans 14:1, 4, 5, 12, 22 NIV)

Unity doesn't mean that we all agree on everything. Rather, we put relationships and our spiritual family bond in Jesus above our differences.

In all things

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35 NIV)

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." (1 Corinthians 13:2-3 NIV)

"The whole point of what we're urging is simply love - love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God." (1 Timothy 1:5 MSG)

Love

Essentials

We Believe

  • There is one God, eternally existing in three co-equal Persons (Romans 8; Ephesians 1:13-14).

  •  God, out of love for his children, sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and to rise from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

  •  The Bible is the inspired word of God and is the final authority in life and doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16).

  •  Salvation is a free gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior (Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16).

  •  Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38).

  •  The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost and discipling the saved, helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ (Ephesians 4:1-16).

  •  Christ will one day return and reign forever (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

  • When we die, we will either be eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through faith in Jesus. (John 3:16; John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:10,15)

Core Values

  • The good news about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection is the focus of our mission. It's all about Jesus, it's all for Jesus, and Jesus gets all the credit.

  • We are all baptized by one Spirit. We actively seek and expect the Holy Spirit’s guidance, direction and empowerment.

  • We read it, meditate on it, teach it, and apply it to our lives by embracing Biblical values as a lifestyle.

  • Intimate and passionate worship fuels what we do, and it sensitizes us to God's power and presence. It's our highest calling. The Lover of our souls delights in our delight of Him.

  • Like worship, prayer is an important part of our relationship with Jesus. We believe that prayer changes things. We embrace the Biblical reality that spiritual warfare is the context of our lives. Prayer is a powerful spiritual resource in our battle to advance the Kingdom. Find out more and join us in prayer here.

  • We believe all people matter to God. We are one human race, one blood, all created from one man, Adam. And we are saved by one blood – the blood of Jesus, the Son of God who gave His life to reconcile us to the Father – and to one another. Through our kingdom identities, ethnicities and cultures, we can see the creativity and unity of the triune God. We believe New Heights is especially called to care for the hurting, the broken, the poor, and the marginalized. We are a healing community. Because of our current cultural climate, we think it is important to make more specific statements in two areas related to this core value: race and the sanctity of human life, including life in the womb.

    Race

New Heights Church believes that the global church, as the Body of Christ, is intended by God to be a unified, multi-ethnic Body. Any attempt to divide that multi-ethnic unity or diminish one ethnicity in favor of another is the sin of racism. New Heights unequivocally rejects that sin. We grieve how racism has haunted us as Americans, and we acknowledge that the American church has not been exempt from such brokenness.

Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed to our Heavenly Father that his Church would be one, and we at New Heights Church offer that same prayer to our Lord. In obedience to Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, New Heights Church will stand against any evil that threatens that oneness, so that we may bear witness to the world that Jesus was sent by God.

    - John 17:20-23, Revelation 7:9

    Abortion: Sanctity of Human Life

Our Lord knits us together in our mothers' wombs, and He has plans and purposes for our lives even before we are conceived. An abortion rejects those plans and purposes. We oppose and reject abortion as the destruction of a life created in God’s image.

If you are considering an abortion, please know that God loves both you and your unborn child. If you need help during your pregnancy, please contact the church office, so that we can connect you with organizations that can help you get the support you need. To those who have had an abortion or helped someone get an abortion, God’s love and forgiveness are available to you. If you need to talk to someone or need help with counseling, contact the church office and we can help you. We stand ready to love and serve you as you seek God’s help.

    - Psalm 139:13-16, Psalm 86:5

  • We are relationship-driven in every area of ministry. We share life through Christ-centered small groups. We have a relational approach to evangelism and discipleship. Find out more about community here.

  • God created human sexuality and marriage intentionally and for our good. Therefore, we affirm the Biblical definition of marriage as the uniting of a man and a woman in covenant relationship for a lifetime. We view sexual activity outside of marriage as sinful, but we also affirm our belief in a God who offers forgiveness, healing and freedom from shame to all those who repent and seek Him, including those who believe themselves broken because of sexual sin. We all struggle with sin, often in our sexuality. Regardless of your personal sin struggles you are welcome at New Heights. Our hope is to extend grace while never compromising truth.

    (Gen 1:27; Gen 2:19-25; Exodus 20:14 & 17; Matt 19:3-9; Rom 1:18-32; 1 Cor 6:9-20; Jude 7)

  • We work to make disciples both locally and globally, from every race and culture. We send out workers and plant churches so that “the Lamb who was slain will receive the reward for His suffering." Find out more about missions here.

  • Within the bounds of historic Christianity, we will focus on the Savior who unites us and the essential truths of Scripture rather than smaller issues that divide us.

  • New Heights believes every follower of Christ is called to work because work itself has great value in the eyes of God. Our work is of eternal significance in the Kingdom of God.

  • We're all called to serve, so we serve together. Two are always better that one. Teams provide encouragement, accountability, and increased effectiveness as we serve together.

  • We embrace sacrificial living and generous giving as a way of life. We leverage our time, talents, influence, and financial resources for Christ’s Kingdom.
